I’m Susanna Tricarico
aka astrozucchina
I’m a Milan (Italy) based artist. My art is just as fluid, loud and colourful as me (shocking, I know).
I like to experiment with different mediums because what’s better than having your house filled with boxes of scrap materials that for sure I’m going to use…soon? Very soon, I promise!
(A nightmare when moving houses, would not reccomend)

I was born during a huge summer storm in the early 90s and yes, that’s probably the reason my hair and (he)art are always going in every direction.
(You can clearly see it in the picture above, I mean I was almost two and my brain was already working too hard on too many thoughts at once)
I explore and experiment with different mediums including illustration, textiles, and sculpture.

So in brief, since the moment I learned how to use my opposable thumbs the main goal has always been to make my feelings visible and tangible.
And now, after years of school (and therapy to recover from school) I create art as an act of resistance, self love and quiet rebellion,
Because art is and always have been political.
And talent is a lie: creativity is like a muscle, it needs to be trained constantly and seasoned with empathy, experience and most importantly depth of feelings. Technique alone gets you nowhere.

So I fill sketchbooks with self portraits, create posters celebrating anger, paint the bodies I needed to see represented when I was a kid and the vast spectrum of relationships and identities while also having fun with clay, cardboard and colours.
